Planning to do your Master’s degree in the academic year 2020-2021? If you’re eligible, why not apply for scholarships so you can save on tuition fees and/or expenses? Even if it’s a partial scholarship, you can still save a significant amount with a scholarship.

Completing your Master’s degree via distance learning is also a good way to upskill yourself and gain a higher qualification without compromising your full-time job or other commitments.

Seeing as travel restrictions are still in place in many countries around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s probably a safer bet to apply for a scholarship for an online programme.

Here are three Master’s scholarships for international students that are offered for online programmes at UK universities.

Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships for Developing Commonwealth Countries

Scholarships under this programme are for those from least developed or middle-income commonwealth countries, for part-time Master’s study by distance learning on postgraduate courses offered by certain UK universities.

Candidates must already have secured admission to one of these Master’s courses to apply for the scholarship.

Scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), with the aim of contributing to the UK’s international development aims and wider overseas interests, supporting excellence in UK higher education, and sustaining the principles of the Commonwealth.

Intended recipients of these Master’s scholarships are high-quality postgraduate students who “ wish to access training not available in their home countries, who wish or need to remain in their home country while they study, and who have the potential to enhance the development of their home countries with the knowledge and leadership skills they acquire,” according to the official website

They should also hold a first degree of at least upper second class standard, however, a lower qualification with sufficient relevant experience may be considered.

Applications for this year’s round have already been closed, but as it’s an annual scholarship you can still apply for next year.
