Cost and time are often the biggest hurdles for many working adults that make it challenging to go back to school, which is why online learning is having its moment in the limelight, now more than ever amidst a pandemic.

There are plenty of online business classes to facilitate professional growth designed for those who want to upskill in business.

TIME and Columbia Business School have joined forces to launch a series of affordable business classes for professional development during these tumultuous economic times.

In a news release, TIME’s said The Business of Change classes are taught by world-renowned professors from Columbia Business School and are offered at an accessible price. The classes focus on building and expanding critical skills, both in and out of the office.

Their programmes are ideal if you’re looking to expand your professional skills on a range of topics, including negotiation, leadership, marketing, and corporate finance, to name a few.

There are no prerequisites for taking these classes apart from proficiency in English; you will also need to have a computer and an internet connection.

You can expect to pay between US$$65 to US$195 per class. There are currently five classes being offered, with more classes expected to be launched in September.

It’s worth noting, however, that the classes do not provide any university credits and, as such, do not provide accreditation or lead to an accredited diploma or a degree.

“A certificate of participation is granted upon completion of each class. Upon completion of five classes, participants are awarded the Certificate of Participation in The Business of Change Program, from Columbia Business School and TIME for Learning,” said TIME.

In speaking about the classes, Pierre Yared, the MUTB Professor of International Business and Vice Dean for Executive Education at Columbia Business School, said recent events have shown that the world “can change in extraordinary ways quite quickly”.

“Now more than ever, executives and professionals – both new and experienced – must be equipped with advanced skills and knowledge to effectively seize new opportunities, navigate through uncertainty, and thrive in any environment,” he said.

Yared added that these unique sets of classes will help professionals of all levels accelerate their career advancement and meet rapidly-evolving challenges head-on.

Maya Draisin, TIME SVP of Progress Marketing, said these business classes will allow anyone to expand their skill sets immediately, when they enter the workforce, or return to it, and help them stand out.

Without a doubt, there are many quality online educational resources that have been developed by some of the world’s top universities or microcredential providers that will help you learn new skills, pursue areas of your interest or to help you decide if going to a business or graduate school is right for you.

Regardless of your decision, online learning can prove to be a cost-effective and convenient way to upskill and help you grow in your career.
