International students may be eligible for a Canadian study visa
Red Deer College’s Occupational Diploma programs are ideal for anyone who is looking to immigrate to Canada as it increases their chances of becoming a Canadian citizen. Prior to enrolling in an Occupational Diploma, students may begin their Red Deer College studies from their home country with online English as a Second Language courses.
Upon successful enrolment, students will be eligible to apply for a Canadian study permit. Once this study permit is approved by the Government of Canada, students will be able to temporarily relocate to Canada with their family. Their spouses may also be eligible to apply for a Canadian work visa and begin working once in Canada.
Additionally, upon completion of the Occupational Diplomas, international students are able to apply for the Post-Graduate Work Permit Program, which upon approval, would allow the student to remain in Canada for an additional two years to gain work experience.
Occupational Diploma in Health Care Practice and Management
Red Deer College’s Occupational Diploma in Health Care Practice and Management is currently being offered in partnership with Sterling College in Vancouver.
This program draws upon management and organizational knowledge to support learners who aspire to manage and lead within health care organizations.
It is specifically designed to prepare internationally educated nurses to assume management or leadership roles within the Canadian health care environment.
The program places a strong emphasis on theoretical knowledge and practical skills that will help graduates lead their organizations to achieve business and strategic goals.
This comprehensive two-year program will also develop your clinical nursing skills to prepare you for the Canadian health care system.
Graduates will develop valuable critical thinking strategies that will aid in your preparation to complete the regulatory examination process for professional certification in Canada.

Occupational Diploma in Network Administration or Software Development
Red Deer College also launched a new Occupational Diploma in Network Administration program in partnership with Sterling College as a response to Canada’s booming tech industry.
This program was launched to address the growing demand for skilled IT professionals in a range of industries, from finance to health care, and it meets industry needs to produce qualified professionals in the field.

This online diploma places a strong emphasis on the technical skills in software development that are designed to meet industry needs.
It will equip you with all the skills necessary, including how to code, with an emphasis on software development, databases, system administration, security, data communications, and web development.
The Occupational Diploma in Software Development credential will prepare you for entry-level positions in developer or tester roles in a range of organizational contexts.

If you are seeking to develop a focus on one or more application domains, such as Web, VR/AR, or Mobile Applications Development, this program will give you the skills and confidence necessary to work toward that goal.

Red Deer College is also offering a newly updated program, the Accounting Technician Certificate, designed to replace the previous Professional Bookkeeping Certificate.
