Applications to RMIT University’s 2021 STEM scholarship are open
A STEM scholarship can open a pathway to a new life and career in Australia. If you’re Southeast Asian, here’s a special opportunity to study at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology — widely known as RMIT University — which is a leading public research university in Melbourne. Its alumni include politicians and artists who have taken great strides both in and beyond Australia.
RMIT University offers STEM courses in the fields of sciences, engineering, computing technologies and health and medical sciences. Here’s the lowdown on this limited STEM scholarship.
Who is eligible?
This scholarship is exclusively for students who want to pursue an associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or masters by coursework in one of the four departments at RMIT University. They are the School of Computing Technologies, School of Engineering, School of Health and Biomedical Sciences, as well as the School of Science.
Only students from Southeast Asia are welcome to apply for this STEM scholarship. You cannot be an existing RMIT student and must have achieved at least 70% average or equivalent in your last completed qualification. It is open to students in Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, and the Philippines; these countries are all located near Australia, so you won’t be too far from home.
What does the STEM scholarship cover?
Recipients will receive a one-off payment of 10,000 Australian dollars after the first census date. This money can be spent on any study and living expense including textbooks, fees, and accommodation. It’s a good opportunity for students who have the ambition and support but require some financial assistance.
How to apply?
As this is a research STEM scholarship, your academic achievement and relevant research experience will be considered in the shortlisting process. Only five scholarships are available for the second semester of 2021, which begins in September. Apply for a programme to clinch your spot.
You may only apply for the scholarship once you’ve received a conditional offer from RMIT University, at which point you will be considered for all available scholarships within the round. Hurry — applications are only accepted before May 31, 2021.
