Cloud computing careers are on the rise. The pandemic has accelerated the demand for cloud solutions and services, which spells opportunities for those with expertise in the field.

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that employment in computer and information technology occupations will grow 11% from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations.

“These occupations are projected to add about 531,200 new jobs. Demand for these workers will stem from greater emphasis on cloud computing, the collection and storage of big data, and information security,” it said.

Meanwhile, reports project that the global cloud computing market size would grow from US$371.4 billion in 2020 to US$832.1 billion by 2025.

Cloud computing professionals can earn lucrative salaries. Glassdoor, for instance, notes that cloud engineers have an average base pay of 110,692 US dollars per annum.

Cloud engineers largely deal with duties related to cloud computing, including designing, developing, testing, managing, maintaining, and evaluating computer systems that support the implementation of cloud services.

This data suggests that the future looks bright for cloud computing professionals, making it an area worth exploring for those who want to update their credentials.
